JOANNA EPSTEIN 1

You left behind everything that you are when you left New York.

Starting with pinhole photos of landscapes and ruins, then gradually shifting closer to home and into abstraction, the question always remained hanging in the air...
"What is it all about?" I will tell the group, but these are words I find difficult to commit to paper.

I recently relocated from Brooklyn, where I lived for most of my adult life, to a small village in rural Spain. These photographs are part of an ongoing series as I attempt to reconcile with my new surroundings and explore issues concerning my relationship with my partner while trying to find some sense of home. In time, all of the bonsais will become established in their pots and the story will continue.
