"Deutschlandreise" started out of a political furor about the re-emergence of the far right in Germany and their claim on the term "Heimat", their ugly grip on defining what is German and what is not.

During the course of the year, the project became much more intimate: Where I come from, how the turmoils of personal and German history made me and my immediate family who we are.

The breadth and width of the project has expanded vastly and I am much more at the beginning of the project than I was at the beginning of the year -  but it now feels like an exciting place to be at.
