The workshop aims to share with students the strategies used by artist Cristina De Middel in translating her ideas into images and in constructing a narrative with them. Issues related to different phases of the creative process will be addressed: from the original idea, searching for sources and documentation, to final decisions on the exhibition or editorial form and going through the keys to production and preparation for each take.
Cristina De Middel develops her work in a field that fits in both the documentary and the fictional, so during the course of the workshop general issues about the nature and possibilities of photography beyond classical conceptions will be addressed.
Even though it is a purely practical workshop, the students' understanding of the possibilities that a transgressive use of photography offers to reinforce the narrative and control over the genuine work of the author is established as a priority.
